American Cockroaches
What do American cockroaches look like?

Adult American cockroaches are dark reddish-brown and have lighter colored edges going around their bodies. They also have a distinctive yellowish figure-8 pattern located behind their heads. Both female and male American cockroaches are winged and are capable of flight.
Where are American cockroaches found?
American cockroaches are generally found living outside. They like to live in damp, warm areas like in flowerbeds, under mulch, in sewers, in pipes, and on trees. While American cockroaches are mostly found outside, they commonly enter Quad City homes and other buildings to search for food and water sources. American cockroaches typically enter underneath doorways and through basement windows and doors. Once inside, they can take up residence in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements.
What do American cockroaches eat?
Outside, American cockroaches can be found nibbling on leaves, fungi, algae, insects, and wood particles. Inside, American cockroaches scavenge and feed on whatever food scraps they come across behind appliances, in cabinets, in sinks, and on floors such as liquid spills, crumbs, and even uneaten pet food that has been left behind.
